Sanarei Protocol

Offline Web Browsing with Ruby & USSD

The Sanarei Protocol is a Ruby-based technology that enables users to access web pages and perform full CRUD operations—without internet connectivity. Built as a RubyGem, it uses USSD to bring essential web functionality to anyone, anywhere.

By combining simplicity and accessibility, Sanarei helps bridge the digital divide, making financial, educational, and healthcare services available to those with limited or no internet access.

Name

The name Sanarei is derived from the Maasai word “Sanare,” meaning “that which brings blessings,” and from the Latin verb sanare, meaning “to heal” or “to make whole.” Together, these meanings beautifully capture the essence of the project — a technology that restores access and brings opportunity to those disconnected from the digital world. The Sanarei Protocol embodies this spirit by enabling web access and interaction without internet connectivity, using Ruby and USSD to “bless” underserved communities with the power of information, connection, and inclusion.
